Paralives has shared its first monthly development update, and the headline news is that the first major update has been pushed back. It was originally planned for the end of 2026, but the team says they need a little more time to do it well.
Since Early Access launched, they’ve released 8 patches and 8 hotfixes, upgraded to Unity 6, and grown the team with a new Senior Programmer, Senior Game Designer and extra QA help.
The major update is focused on gameplay fundamentals rather than flashy new features. Here’s what’s planned:
Buffing the basics: Relationship labels will unlock more as they improve, with new Together Cards for flirting, joking and being mean. More interactions, talking animations during group activities, and more autonomous behaviour based on personality. The Jester trait is being reworked, and the economy is being rebalanced because money is currently too easy to come by. Higher priced furniture will also work more efficiently.
Live Mode: Two new skills, more Together Cards, new Story Cards, and a few new jobs in a field the team hasn’t revealed yet.
Build Mode: Fixes for build breaking bugs like disappearing floors and corrupted lots, plus new furniture and items.
Paramaker: Wider fat and muscle sliders, new hairstyles, and more clothing, including baggy clothes, which the team has already started on.
Weather, seasons, gardening, pets, cars and world editing tools are all saved for future major updates. The list isn’t final, so some items may shift.
Disappointing that it’s been delayed, but a focused update on the fundamentals sounds like the right call. That economy fix alone will be welcome.
